1. What is 5G?

5G is the 5th Generation Cellular wireless network standard which was introduced by the 3GPP. 5G is the major release after the 4th Generation cellular wireless networks  or 4G. As of April 2019, Huawei, ZTE, Nokia, Samsung and Ericsson does manufacture 5G hardware systems and base station equipment to facilitate 5G cellular networks.

As of April 2019, South Korean Telecom claims that they have deployed 5G in 38,000 base stations in South Korea and KT Corporation claims they have have deployed 30,000 base stations with 5G and LG U Plus claims that they have deployed 18,000 base stations which could facilitate 5G networks.

Verizon in USA has opened the 5G network on very limited basis which is scoped to few base stations in couple of cities in USA.
