Peugeot started as a family business which didn't started initially to manufacture automobiles. Peugeot initially manufactured grinding mill machines which included coffee, pepper and salt grinders.

The the business expanded to manufacture bicycles. After in the business of bicycles for sometime, Peugeot family made a steam engine powered tricycle which was designed in a shape of a car. After getting understood that the steam powered engines were in-efficient, Peugeot adopted Daimler AG internal combustion engine to power up the car.

After the successful implementation of the internal combustion engine, Peugeot manufactured multiple vehicles and designed Peugeot propitiatory internal combustion engine. Peugeot is currently traded publicly on the Euronext Stock Exchange and currently headquartered in Paris, France.
