1. What is AKG?

AKG is an acoustics engineering and manufacturing company which develop and manufacture high quality acoustics audio products to use in professional level products and also on consumer level applications too.

AKG's main product line includes microphones, headphones, audio mixtures, conferencing equipment and etc... AKG products are majorly used in Radio Stations, music production studios, music events, conference halls, parliaments houses and etc...

2. History

AKG is stands for Akustische und Kino-Gerate Gesellschaft m.b.H in German and in English AKG stands for Acoustic and Cinema Equipment. AKG was founded by Dr. Rudolf Gorike and Ernst Pless in 1947. Both the founders were Viennese and Dr. Rudolf Gorike was a physicist and Ernst was an engineer.

AKG's initial product was cinema loudspeakers, film projectors and light meters. After getting success with the initial product line, AKG slowly expanded business to selling car horns, door intercom systems, carbon capsules for telephones, headsets and cushion speakers.

AKG went public on Vienna Stock Exchange in 1984 and marked as one of the most traded stocks of a blue chip company. AKG was acquired by Harman International Industries in 1994. AKG is currently headquartered in Northridge, Los Angeles, California, United States.
