1. What is YouTube?

YouTube is the world's most famous video content sharing platform which does have the world's largest community of content creators and viewers.

Content creators do have the capability to upload videos which they have created or they do have the authority to own or share legislatively and generate revenue by the Google's adsense ad platform as per engagements made by the viewers.

2. History

YouTube is founded by three former employees of PayPal where the name goes as Chad Hurley, Steve Chen and Jawed Karim in 14th February 2005. The idea for YouTube was came in a dinner party where the founders found it's difficult to upload and share the video content captured at the event.

Initially YouTube got funded by a venture capital firm names Sequoia Capital for an investment of US$ 11.5 million and an additional US$ 8 million from Artis Capital Management in 2005 to 2006 period of time. YouTube grew it's way with the content creators and as well as the content viewers rapidly because it was free to use.

In 2006 Google announced the acquisition of YouTube for a value of US$ 1.65 billion in Google's Stocks which were listed in the NASDAQ Stock Exchange and officially announced the closure of the deal on 13th November 2006.

After the restructure of Google Inc and formation of Alphabet Inc, YouTube operates as a subsidiary of Alphabet Inc. YouTube currently headquartered in San Bruno, California, USA.
