1. What is Mac OS?

Mac OS is an operating system developed by Apple Inc to use in their computers from the desktop PCs and to portable computers. Mac OS is primarily based on Unix like operating systems and Apple developed the OS to become more user friendly with the graphical user interfaces and performance improvements.

Mac OS is used in Laptops to desktop computers manufactures by Apple and works on Intel architectures x86 and x64 platforms. Mac OS doesn't support third party apps which works on the Microsoft Windows operating systems. App developers develop different types of apps to use in the Mac OS with same set of features in the Microsoft Windows OS.

2. History

Mac OS initially known as Macintosh Operating system because it was used in the Apple's Macintosh computers. The macOS which is used currently is initially developed on top of a operating system which was developed by NeXT from 1980s and Apple acquired the company in early 1997.
