Olympus is a Japanese brand which is quite popular in the world and gained some trust of consumers in different parts of the world.


Olympus is founded by Takeshi Yamashita in 12th of October 1919. Olympus's first innovative camera launched in 1959 under the series of Pen and it was a half frame camera which allows 72 pictures or photos in 18x24mm format on standard 36 exposure film roll. Olympus's camera lineup is expanded through-out the years and there were many full frame cameras which got released.

Olympus do holds a market share in the medical and surgical imaging products and industrial imaging type equipment lineup which has been used in different applications and different regions of the world. Olympus owns 5.03% (as of 6th December 2018) stake in the famous Japanese brand Sony, and few other companies in Japan.

Olympus is publicly traded on Tokyo stock exchange under the code of 7733 and the company is headquartered in Shinjuku, Tokyo, Japan
