iOS 6 is the iOS version which got released after iOS 5 by Apple Inc.


1. What is iOS 6?

iOS 6, the 6th major release upgrade to the iOS operating system of Apple Inc which runs on mobile and handheld type devices in the product line of Apple Inc.

iOS 6 was announced on 11th June 2012 at the annual Apple Worldwide Developers Conference also known as WWDC event. The iOS was publicly available on 19th September 2012 with the iPhone, iPod Touch 5th generation devices and iPad 4 devices.

Apple dropped supporting to iPod Touch 3rd generation and iPad 1st generation devices due to hardware limitations and kept supporting for iPhone 3GS, iPad 2 and iPod Touch 4th generation on limited support basis.

iPhone 4 and latest devices and iPod Touch 5th generation devices and iPad 3 to iPad Mini 1st generation devices were fully supported by iOS 6.

The iOS 6 carried 9 release updates after the initial release of the operating system to users to ensure the quality and stability of the operating system in the Apple devices.
