iOS 5 is the 5th major upgrade for the iOS operating system of Apple Inc. iOS 5 is to cater the growing demand for Apple devices and to ensure the smoothest user experience possible.

1. What is iOS 5?

iOS 5 is the 5th major upgrade that Apple Inc made into their mobile operating system platform which iOS after the iOS 4. iOS 5 was announced on 6th of June 2011 at the Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference also known as WWDC event.

The first device which carried the iOS 5 was the iPhone 4S. iOS 5 was supported for devices by Apple from iPhone 3GS onward and iPod Touch 3rd generation onward and all iPad models of Apple Inc.

2. Features of iOS 5

iOS 5 carried lots of features to the iOS and to gain the maximum out of the iPhones and as well as iPods and iPad devices to ensure smoother user experience in the devices.

After the initial release of iOS 5, there were three releases made to iOS 5 core which made the iOS more stable and user friendly.

2.1 Features of iOS 5.0

The initial release version of iOS 5 was released under the version code of 5.0 and under the build code of 9A334 and five baseband codes which are 04.11.08, 05.16.05, 07.11.01, 1.0.11, 3.00.03. The initial release was developed focusing on iPhone 4S which was the latest iPhone product at the time from Apple Inc.
