What is IP (Internet Protocol)? - Explained

What is IP?

IP stands for Internet Protocol which is the principal communication protocol in the internet protocol suite. IP address is performing two major functions. Host or network interface identification and location addressing.

When a device attached to a network like a WiFi, WAN or LAN or Intranet, that particular device gets an address which is unique to the device. That address is just like a phone number or a house address, but it's a digital address which is unique to the device and bonded with the MAC address of the device.
