Toyota sold 1.52 Million Electrified vehicles in 2017 and targets 5.5 million vehicles in 2030

Toyota, The worls largest automobile manufacture announced that they have sold 1.52 electrified vehicles in 2017 globally. This record is a increasing of 8% over the time from 2016. Toyota stated that total cumulative sales of electrified vehicles till now is 11.47 million and Toyota has contributed a 90 million tons of CO2  reduction with the time.

"In just over 20 years, we have seen electrified new vehicle sales increase from under 500 sales to more than 1.5 million sales.This is a testament from our customers to the quality, durability and reliability of our electrified powertrains, and thanks to them has led us to establish a solid and sustainable foundation for mass producing a more diverse portfolio of electrified vehicles across our range moving forward" - Shigeki Terashi (Executive Vice President, Toyota Motor Corporation.

 From the time introducing 1997 the first commercial Prius, which is a electrified vehicle Toyota states that they have putting much effort to the forth generation Prius which released in 2016 and Plug-In electric vehicle in 2017.

Toyota do have a goal to achieve in 2050 known as Environmental Challenge 2050 announced in 2015. From it's begining to the electrified vehicles Toyota has only sold 100 electrified vehicles in 1993 to 1996 and that was only in Japan.
